Belle Histoire De La Vie rose from our passion to share the story and encourage reuse of beautiful vintage and pre-owned décor as an alternative to the seen-it-everywhere, mass-produced items marketed to us every day. Some items have been reconditioned, others are in their original state, and all of them have their beautiful history of life and a future. How We Got Here

I have always had a love of vintage carousel horses. One of my most treasured possessions is a ceramic carousel horse Christmas ornament from my beloved grandmother. I still guard it fiercely today. Driving home one afternoon, my husband saw a discarded moldy, mushroom-sprouting wood pile mess on the side of the road. He also saw something else – the pieces resembled what used to be a wooden horse sculpture. He threw it in the bed of his truck, took it to a trusted friend who lovingly restored it for me and transformed it into one of my favorite treasures. The restoration affected me deeply and started my path toward reclaiming forgotten beautiful objects and creating their next life.

The Dogs

You may recognize Belle Histoire's logo as a Great Pyrenees. Officially, this is the profile of one of our adopted rescue dogs, Olaf. Along with this passion to share the beauty of found objects and encourage reuse, is a passion for animal welfare. My husband and I share the drive to support homeless and rescue animals in every way we can. We achieve this through adoption of rescues, fostering, and now through Belle Histoire De La Vie. While we are not a non-profit, proceeds from every sale on our website will be shared with animal rescue organizations.
